Knicks' Cringeworthy Recruitment Videos for Kawhi, Kyrie, and KD Exposed! (2026)

Ready to cringe? Pablo Torre has unearthed a treasure trove of Knicks' recruitment videos, and let's just say, they're not exactly championship material. After decades of basketball mediocrity, the New York Knicks are finally showing signs of life. But, as always, there's a way to find a story that will embarrass them.

Last year, Torre revealed the Knicks' cringeworthy attempt to woo LeBron James in 2010. Now, he's brought to light their recruitment efforts for Kawhi Leonard, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant.

The spotlight shines brightest on the Kawhi Leonard video. Torre, known for his in-depth reporting on Leonard, rightfully calls this video the worst of the bunch.

The video is a Saturday Night Live-style sketch, featuring a cast of familiar faces, including Jay Pharoah, Kenan Thompson, Micheal Che, Ben Stiller, Tracy Morgan, Al Roker, and Jason Biggs. Imagine the Knicks' logic: if Jason Biggs can't land Leonard, who can? The video begins with what appears to be Leonard watching his own recruitment video. But wait, it's Jay Pharoah impersonating Leonard. Was this a misstep?

Leonard is known for his private nature. The question is, did this approach resonate with him? The answer: a resounding no. The video didn't even earn the Knicks a meeting.

But here's where it gets controversial: the Knicks also sent videos to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant.

Irving's video, delivered on a Knicks-branded tube TV, featured Rucker Park legends and a glimpse into the future, forecasting Irving's impact on the city in 2027. Compared to the others, this one was less cringe-worthy.

Durant's recruitment attempt, previously revealed by Torre, was a song and music video by the Wu-Tang Clan.

Ultimately, the Knicks struck out with all three stars, who all chose to sign with the Brooklyn Nets in 2019.

The Knicks' days of losing seem to be over. But will the recruitment videos era also end? Perhaps the best approach is to offer free agents money, a talented roster, and a great place to live.

What do you think? Did these videos miss the mark? What would be the best way to recruit top talent? Share your thoughts in the comments!
