Shape the Future of Health Research! Participate in Our Partnership Study (2026)

Attention all health researchers and knowledge users! We have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of health research documentation and reporting. The power of collaboration is about to be unleashed!

Our team at the University of Manitoba is embarking on a project to develop recommendations for documenting and reporting health research partnerships. But here's where it gets controversial... we need your insights to guide this process and ensure the recommendations are practical and effective.

A health research partnership, as we define it, is a dynamic collaboration between researchers and knowledge users. Researchers bring their expertise and rigorous study methods, while knowledge users represent the diverse perspectives of those impacted by the research, be it healthcare professionals, decision-makers, or individuals with lived experiences. Together, they shape the direction of health research projects.

The project will involve multiple rounds of surveys, where participants like you will rate the importance of various aspects of health research partnerships for documentation and reporting. Your input will directly inform the development of recommendations that researchers can use when publishing their partnership studies academically. This is your chance to influence the academic landscape and ensure that health research partnerships are recognized and valued.

We are seeking a diverse range of participants who meet any of the following criteria: knowledge users with decision-making roles, individuals with lived experience who have partnered in research, health professionals, researchers studying health research partnerships, members of research ethics boards, academic journal editors, health research funders, and staff with management or coordination roles in research partnerships. If you identify with any of these roles, your insights are invaluable!

The time commitment is manageable. You'll start with a pre-screening form (10 minutes) to determine your eligibility and understand your background. Then, you'll participate in three rounds of Delphi surveys (1 hour each, spaced over a six-month period) to rate the importance of different partnership aspects. Finally, you can opt into a focus group (90 minutes) to discuss these items with others who share your partnership background.

All activities will be conducted virtually, and you can choose to complete the forms in English or French. Focus groups, however, will be held in English only.

If you're interested, reach out to our research team! Dr. Kathryn Sibley, the Principal Investigator and a Professor at the University of Manitoba, is leading this project. You can contact her at kathryn.sibley@umanitoba.ca for any questions or concerns.

To show our appreciation for your time and expertise, we offer compensation in the form of a $30 CAD e-gift card for each project component you complete, including the three Delphi survey rounds and the optional focus group (a total of $120 CAD). Your personal information will remain anonymous throughout the process.

Don't miss this chance to contribute to a project that will impact the way health research partnerships are documented and reported. Your voice matters! The deadline to express your interest is March 6, 2026. We look forward to hearing from you and working together to enhance the visibility and impact of health research partnerships.
