Based on Tom King's acclaimed 2021-2022 comic book series, illustrated by Bilquis Evely, the film 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' promises a unique take on the character. Milly Alcock will portray the titular role of Kara Zor-El, with Ana Nogueira handling the script and James Gunn and Peter Safran producing. Gunn's vision for the project highlights the stark contrast between Superman and Supergirl, emphasizing the impact of their differing upbringings.
'We'll explore the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from infancy, and Supergirl, who endured a harsh upbringing on a rock, witnessing the deaths of those around her,' Gunn explained in 2023. 'Supergirl is a tougher, more complex character than the one we're accustomed to seeing.'
Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film is set for release on June 26, 2026, and is expected to captivate audiences with its fresh interpretation of the iconic superheroine.
